Osaka & Saidaiji & Kyoto manga/anime shopping sprees

(Updated 12th Feb 2001)

Look what I found! I went into a local manga shop crammed with books some weeks ago and asked about Mononoke. The guy apologized profusely that he didn't have the series in stock anymore because somebody had bought all of them.
(The somebody was actually Wasinee :-) But...

...today I went back and he remembered me straight away and produced not only one of the manga, but also this sugoi hon (super-cool book). The pictures are exquisite!

These kodama are so cute. One run of the shinkansen (bullet train) is also called kodama... echo

Alan prepares to do battle with Gundam combat robot outside the Gundam shop. (I think the robot will win, Alan has a sore foot!)

A great little Gundam toy which Noriyo gave me for Chanukah (well she thought it was for Christmas but I accepted it for Chanukah :-)

Whoohooh! A model of an EVA from Neon Genesis: Evangelion... and it was on special in the junk box! If anyone wants one there is also an orange EVA there which I might collect when next I'm in Osaka. It'll cost you about $20 AUD
The 'piece-de-resistance'... a yellowed but original copy of the The Ghost In The Shell manga. (Published on my 21st birthday) A steal at 500 yen. Even a tray of sushi at the supermarket costs more than that!
A cute Doraemon diorama in which they are miniaturizing cities. Rod got this for me when I became a Japanese salaryman.

Sorry you'll have to use the back button on your browser toolbar. I can't be bothered putting in a link.
