Clayton School of Information Technology

Seminar series for students, Semester 1, 2012

When: Wednesday 18 April, 12noon

Where: Room 135, Building 26.

Topic: “Monte Carlo and Quasi-Random approaches for Integrating”

Speaker: Dr. David Albrecht

Abstract:

Computer simulations allow us to perform virtual experiments that are too dangerous, too costly, or plainly impossible to conduct in reality. However, to analysis the results of these experiments we need to integrate functions over many variables. In this talk I will introduce some very simple integration approaches that only require you to find either random sequences or quasi-random sequences.
