Abstract:

Information graphics--diagrams, charts and maps--allow humans to understand and communicate complex multidimensional data.

In this talk I will analyse why information graphics can be so successful and also describe some of the research projects happening

in the Laboratory for Intelligent Documents & Diagrams at Monash. They include: Visualizing argument structure; network diagram layout;

human comprehension of algebraic notation and presenting diagrams to blind people.
