Since previous researchers concentrated on how to make stochastic patterns using Wang Tiles, they narrowed down the problem to a mono-motif scene, such as a field of single type of flowers, a daisy or sunflower for instance. They achieved success by creating convincing aperiodic patterns and scenes; however, their algorithms could not be applied to multi-motif scenes, such as the scenes which are composed of different tile groups, or in some cases, of different terrains.
Border Tile Set is a set of tiles which used for construction of borders between different motifs / terrains. They are Wang Tiles because of their colour-coded borders, however, they follow some special rules:
- Each tile can have one and only one curve (border between two different motifs / terrains)
- Each tile can have two or none edge which has a curve go through.
This is a Border Tile Set with two possible entry point for the curve on an edge.
