Australia, like most developed nations, is saturated with ubiquitous wireless radio-frequency services, associated with broadcast services, telephony services, networking services, and miscellaneous other RF communications. This webpage is intended to display typical examples, photographed in urban/suburban areas of Australia.

Cellular / WiMax Towers

Monash Uni Caulfield Campus

Monash University, like many organisations which own multiple multi-storey buildings, has exploited available rooftop space for the installation of antenna farms. Most of these images depict Bldg S at Caulfield. Identifiable services include cellular telephony, WiFi, and terrestrial microwave point-to-point links. These images are of sufficient resolution to clearly show mounting structures, hardware for angular alignment, and where applicable, the RF cables connecting the antennas to the terminal or repeater equipment.

Terrestrial Broadcast Service Antennas

One of the multiple television broadcast towers on Mount Dandenong. The dipole arrays for TV services are clearly designed for minimal sidelobe emissions above and below the broadside plane of the array. Note the opportunistic use of the tower for microwave terrestrial services.


Satellite Broadcast Service Antennas
Satellite television broadcast services are widely used in Australia, and are especially common in some suburbs. The depicted examples were all photographed within a circle of 100 metres, in which five households possessed satellite antennas.

Household VHF/UHF Television Antennas

Television broadcast services in Australia largely operate, as in most developed nations, in the VHF and UHF bands. The most common antenna designs in Australia are variations on the Yagi theme, either for VHF or UHF bands, or sometimes both.
