Second Iteration : travel information

The conference venue is the Art & Design Building of the Caulfield Campus of Monash University. This campus is at number 900 Dandenong Rd. Caulfield in Melbourne, Australia. The campus is a very short walk from Caulfield Railway Station or the tram line running down Dandenong Rd. (Please see below for public transport details.) An online map is available to help you find your bearings.

The conference will be held during summer in the southern hemisphere. Daytime temperatures average 25 degrees Celsius, nightime temperatures average 14 degrees Celsius in December.

Melbourne is an excellent gateway to see the rest of the vast Australian continent, especially the state of Victoria in which it is situated. Your local travel agent should be able to arrange travel and accommodation for other places within Australia.

AUSTRALIAN DOLLAR

The Australian dollar is currently sitting at just over 50 US cents. This makes Australia a very low-cost destination for overseas travellers.

MAINS POWER

Those intending to bring laptop computers please note that Australian mains power runs at 240 Volts - you may require an "international" power transformer. You may also need to bring a plug adapter which will fit a wall socket in the configuration illustrated opposite.

AIRPORT INFORMATION

Melbourne International Airport is approximately 20km from the city. A taxi ride from the airport to the city will cost about AUD$35. The Melbourne Airport web site is online for further information.

A SkyBus service operates between the airport and the city centre. The service costs AUD$12 each way. Drop off points are located throughout the city centre close to hotels and facilities. Please check the SkyBus website for timetables and updated information.
