I have recently taken a faculty position at Monash University. I
have a joint appointment between Mathematics and Biology, and I am a
member of MAXIMA.
My research focuses on
- Mathematical models of epidemics: Finding how various inherent
feedback mechanisms in infectious disease spread alter the
population-scale dynamics. I have several ongoing projects in this
area, in particular looking at Cholera.
- Properties of networks:
- Defining classes of "random networks" having various desirable properties.
- Methods to generate various random network classes
efficiently.
- Empirical observation of various networks and identifying
important features of those networks.
- Epidemics on Networks: Most of my work is in the intersection
of infectious disease modeling and networks. I am trying to
develop tools to investigate
- The role that partnership duration plays in an epidemic.
- The role of concurrent partnerships.
- The role of local small-scale structure (especially
clustering) in affecting disease spread.
