More os Stage1 [here].
Land-Rover Stage One.
The Stage-1 was what Land-Rover should have produced 10 years earlier -
the first Land-Rover with some power and a reasonable cruising speed.
Indeed many private owners had converted 4cyl and 6cyl S2As and S3s
to more powerful 6cyl power, and even V8 power using a variety of
engines including Rover sedan and truck V8s.
As it turned out stage-1 was a precursor for the 90 and 110.

- 1987, Victoria.
- Fitted with a remarkable double Hookes-joint
(colour jpg is 17K)
at the front transfer-case output shaft because the
gearbox is tilted up a little and not quite parallel with the
diff' input-shaft.
This makes a c.v. joint.
It is sometimes replaced with a single u.j. on wearing out.
