Testing the IXY-D5

After many hours stuffing around with online camera purchasing departments and international calls spent on hold to the USA, I decided it was much easier to buy a little water and ice-proof IXY-D5 right here in the home of photography. Here are some of the results of a test roll. (The scanner I used is not the best but you get the idea!)

Kodaiji raked pebble garden where I mistakenly walked in the exit instead of the entrance... which meant (a) I took my shoes off where everyone was putting them on (b) I missed the sign which said "No Photography" and got told off by the priest... after I took my photos :-)

A few of the thousands of lanterns which line the paths of Nara park. Some of these are really old. You can tell how old they are because they aren't even flourescent lights and they all just stand there without talking in a squeeky electronic child's voice at you.

I hear the Nara City Council plans to remove these lanterns and line the paths with flourescent lamps that warn you in Japanese not to wander off the path (for fear of the deadly habu snake), not to tread in the pot-holes (or you might twist your ankle) and to...
