"The inhabitants of Sphereland are supposed to have bodies composed entirely of spheres! How preposterous! Supposed experts in computer graphics claim to have photographs to prove it. Sensible folk will no doubt give little credence to the remarks of the graphics fraternity. By and large they spend too many hours in front of computer terminals or toying with juggling balls. Perhaps work induced hallucinations are playing havoc with the minds of what has the potential to be a respectable community. According to certain rumour mongering academics, Sphereland consists of an infinite plane (Some practitioners believe this ground plane has a checkerboard pattern superimposed upon it.) upon which most Spherelanders live their entire lives. Other so called intellectuals have stated that they have seen Spherelanders levitating above the ground plane! Who do they think they're fooling?! Sphereland is claimed most frequently to have one Sun, an invisible point light source whose existence may only be inferred from the presence of specular highlights and shadows. Unless these computer graphics professionals can produce some evidence, they ought to be kept safely in an asylum! To think our taxes are at work providing them with a haven in which to practice their Tom-foolery!" |
