This title is pinched from
Marvin Minsky’s 1969 Turing Award lecture. But it is just as relevant 40 years on, which
is a LONG time in computing. This talk
will explore the markup language XML, and how it
addresses the need to separate form and content in not just text documents, but
in any information exchange across computing platforms. Lessons for the future of proprietary and
open source software will be drawn.
