Western
Australia is home to thousands of unique plant species, evolved in
isolation due to the deserts which separate this state from other
habitats on the Australian continent. Western Australian wildflowers
are often unique to the state and its predominantly arid climate. While
the Southern region of the state
is forested, the Northern regions are arid, with large expanses of
desert, scrubland, and spinifex grass.

The Eucalyptus caesia
or Silver
Princess is a small gum tree indigenous to the wheatbelt of
Western Australia. It is well suited to suburbia as it is
small but grows quickly, but is like many Eucalypts maintenance
intensive as its characteristic drooping branches fracture
easily. This example is the red flowering subspecies,
photographed in Melbourne, Victoria.
