contains a selection of pictures which I took during a short visit to
the Lamington National Park in South-Eastern Queensland, late 1997.
Australia is widely perceived to be a continent of desert and scrub,
however, what is less appreciated is that we have some truly superb
rainforest habitats with many unique types of wildlife. [20th

rainforest trees, a byproduct of shallow root structures.

takes seven years for these birds to gain their characteristic
orange-red head.
