The Little Raven (Corvus mellori) is the dominant raven species in Victoria and commonly found in parks, nature reserves, campus grounds and inevitably, backyards. The Little Raven is curious, gregarious, and often seen in large flocks on Clayton Campus. I once observed a Little Raven keeping company with a Red Wattlebird, flying in formation and perching together. Like Magpies, they are fond of petfood. Imagery produced using a range of different cameras and lenses, including: Nikon D7100 with Nikkor AF-D 35mm f/2D and Sigma AF 100-300mm f/4 EX IF HSM APO; Nikon D90 and a range of lenses, including the Nikkor AF 70-300mm f/4-5.6D ED autofocus telephoto zoom lens, and the Mamiya Sekor A 200mm f/2.8 APO manual focus apochromatic telephoto prime lens, and D800 and Nikkor AF 70-300mm f/4-5.6D ED. Some images also produced using a Mamiya 645AFD, with the 55-110mm f/4.5 AF zoom lens, and a Fuji HS10 superzoom. Photos and text ¿ 2010-2014 Carlo Kopp |
