Eurasian Coot and Dusky Moorhen |
Eurasian Coot. |
Mundane
as
Australian
suburbia might be, we often do get interesting visitors. This web page contains a selection
of recent
suburban wildlife
pictures of interest.
The
Eurasian Coot (Fulica atra), is almost as common as
the closely related Dusky Moorhen (Gallinula tenebrosa) and Purple
Swamp Hen (Porphyrio porphyrio melanotus), the latter not observed
at the Lake, these are all related to the land resident Buff Banded
Rail (Gallirallus philippensis). These photos were
captured at the lake on the Clayton campus of Monash University, in
early September, 2013, using a Sigma AF 400mm f/5.6 APO prime lens on a
Nikon D90.
