A Conference on Generative Computational Processes in the Electronic Arts.
December 1st-3rd 1999, Melbourne, Australia
Call for participation (text version)
First Iteration begins an annual series of conferences for those
interested in generative computational processes in the electronic
arts. The conference will be held on December 1st-3rd 1999 at Monash
University, Melbourne Australia.
The event is intended to provide an environment conducive to
discourse between artists and researchers in this exciting area of
new media art.
The symposium will include presentations that focus on technical and
aesthetic ideas in electronic art, covering a range of theoretical and
practical issues.
--o-> Submissions are sought in the following areas:
- Rule-based generative systems
- Artificial Life
- Non-linear systems
- Fractals, iterative systems
- Computational simulation of creative processes
- Artificial Intelligence methods
- Human-computer interfaces for artists
|
- Computer music composition and performance
- Sound Synthesis
- Computer Graphics and Animation
- Performance-based and interactive art works
- Virtual Reality and real-time simulation
|
--o-> Submissions may take the form of:
- Poster presentations
- Technical presentations
- Artist's presentations
- Scholarly papers (for peer review)
|
- Performances / live works
- Installation works
- Software demonstrations

|
The focus is on method: This being the method used in the construction
of electronic art or the method used for the construction of tools for
its creation. Technical sketches, posters, papers and presentations
will need to maintain this focus.
