ABOUT: Alan is chair of the Second Iteration conference and was co-chair of the FIrst Iteration conference in 1999. His interests lie in exploring science through art, and art through science. His formal training is in Applied Mathematics (B.Sc.), Animation and Interactive Media (Post. Grad. Dip.) and Computer Science (Ph.D.), but his interests also span Art, Biology (synthetic and natural), History, Music, Philosophy and the links which bind all fields together. Besides chairing and organizing conferences, Alan occassionally finds time to do his own research, make animations, computer music, write papers, give lectures, supervise students and the usual things people working in academia do. |
