Music in Silent Films
If silent films were truly silent, they would be nowhere near as
exciting and interesting as they are with music.
This page is intended to feature the side of silent films which
isn't recognized as often as it should be. Currently there is
very little recognition given to this on the net, but hopefully
this will change.
Timothy Brock has composed
film scores for several silent films, including
Robert Wiene's
The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari and
G.W. Pabst's
Pandora's Box
Kino On-Line has a feature
interview with Composer/Conductor Timothy Brock.
At The Knitting Factory
composers, jazz musicians and avant garde performers write and perform
musical scores for their silent film show,
Loud Music,
Silent Film.
Ben Model's page on
Music composition for silent film and theater has some interesting
information.
