The
Burroughs' B-Line
a pioneering mainframe
makers in house journal from the early sixties !
images prepared by Ralph Klimek, Sept 2008
abstract: The Burrough's B Line, an early sixties pioneering
mainframe makers in house journal. Images of early transistorised
mainframes and Burroughs' in house research and development.
Computer historians note images of card readers, 7 track tape
drives, pioneering disk drives. Mainframe vendor touts its commercial,
NASA and millitary applications. Scientists in white coats!
Thanks to Mr Alan Thorne (Monash University ITS) who kindly loaned me
this material on an extended loan for me to scan. The journal was printed on glossy paper, tabloid size. I have
had to scan each page twice on my HP 3C foolscap scanner and splice the
images together ( using the Gimp!). Its the best I can do.
The images are low resolution thumbnails, click to download

The Mercury space missions were happening when I was in pre-school. I
remember watching scratchy documentaries on the TV quite in awe as only
a four year old can be and wanting a piece of the action !
