Career Biography

David completed his MSci at King's College, London, in 2001. He remained at King's to undertake his PhD in the group of Prof. Jon Steed. His thesis, "Anion Binding Properties and Solid-State Studies of Novel Urea-Containing Ligands and Derivatives" was passed in December 2004. In January 2005, David moved to Australia to begin post-doctoral research in the group of Prof. Glen Deacon and Prof. Peter Junk at Monash University.

In 2006 David was awarded an Australian Research Council APD Fellowship to work with Prof. Stuart Batten on the project "Heterobimetallic Coordination Complexes Containing Rare-Earth and d-Block Ions". In 2009 David was awarded a research fellowship from the Australian Institute of Nuclaer Science and Engineering (AINSE).

In late 2012 David commenced an ARC Future Fellow, exploring novel materials for heterogeneous sensing and separation of small molecules and ions. In 2016 he was appointed to a continuing position as Senior Lecturer in the School of Chemsitry.

In addition to more than 100 peer-reviewed papers, David has co-authored two books; 'Core Concepts in Supramolecular Chemsitry and Nanochemistry' and 'Coordination Polymers. Design, Analysis and Application'.
