Some miscellaneous pictures

Of interest to me more than anybody else I expect. (Updated 20/01/2001)

The view from my (fifth floor with no elevator) flat in Takanohara before all the leaves went south for the winter.
The same view (in greyscale) swapping the leaves for a 7th Jan. snowfall.

Sadly, this snow has meant the cancellation of Nara's Wakakusayama hill-burning: the Ushi-oni (cow demons) will run free this year. Most disappointing, I was looking forward to the event :-(
A postcard I bought at the Hokusai museum in Obuse... some gorgeous pictures there!
An "I climbed Komagatake" pin badge. Komagatake is the highest peak in the Chuo Alps. It was (very) windy and (very, very) cold! But the view was astonishing.
A section of the map of Komagatake... yes, it took me awhile to figure it out!
...talking of mountains, here's one on TV. The guy in the background in the cool outfit and the hat is the judge. I love the enthralled faces of the crowd.
