Second Iteration : emergence Second Iteration will assemble an exciting international gathering of artists, software developers, musicians, architects, theorists and computer scientists for three intense days of challenging new ideas, critical debate and information exchange. Prior to the conference, selected submissions will be published online for reading / viewing / listening by pre-registered attendees. This gives attendees the chance to learn about each other's work, establish connections and commence discussion, even collaboration, before the event proper. It is hoped that this will encourage attendees to "break the ice" early, making the conference a focussed and energetic forum for exploring generative electronic art, whilst building an international community of practitioners and theorists. The conference will consist of invited presentations and contributed formal papers, demonstrations, panel sessions and guided discussion about the works and issues of relevance to generative art. The concepts discussed and issues raised will documented on the Second Iteration CD-ROM, audio CD and proceedings (along with accepted works and papers). This publication will be released after the event. It is anticipated that the documentation will be an important contribution during these formative stages of electronic, generative art practice and theory. We hope to have your work, ideas and other contributions form a part of the Second Iteration documentation. First Iteration CD-ROM's and audio CD's have been selling strongly since December 1999. Selected papers from this event have been published in two special editions of Leonardo Journal, MIT Press. |
The conference will be held at Monash University's Art & Design building at the Caulfield campus in Melbourne, Australia. The building boasts a state-of-the-art lecture theatre with multi-screen projection, Macintosh and PC facilities and high speed Internet access. |
