Second Iteration : submission categories |
All submissions will be reviewed by the appropriate Second Iteration committee or review panel, not only for quality, but also for relevance to the conference themes. Accepted submissions will be published in the conference documentation as detailed below. Selected key works will be previewed online for registered conference attendees in order to promote continuing discussion and to enable contributors to contact one another prior to the event. |

PAPERS
Authors intending to submit
a paper for peer review and presentation at the conference must submit
the complete work by the due date above. If accepted for inclusion in
Second Iteration, camera-ready copies of the paper must then be submitted
by the final date above. Authors may also request to give demonstrations of their software in the Second Iteration demo-lab. |

TECHNICAL
& ARTISTS TALKS
Submit an outline/abstract of no more than 1000 words on your presentation. Please also include biography / CV, plus relevant visual, aural, or software material. This needs to be in digital format so that it can form a part of the Second Iteration documentation. For software material please include detailed instructions of how to operate the work (including specific hardware/software requirements). Artists may also request to give demonstrations of their software in the Second Iteration demo-lab. |

& 3D, GENERATIVE ARTWORKS, INSTALLATION, TEMPORAL & KINETIC ARTWORKS,
SOFTWARE, NET-WORKS The documentation and any software
for accepted works will be published on the conference CD-ROM provided
it is submitted in digital format.
Supporting visual, aural or software material must be submitted for these forms of work in digital format. Also submit a brief summary describing the work and its relevance to the conference and an artist's biography of not more than 500 words. Works that use generative processes and/or address the themes of the conference will be considered. For software material please include detailed instructions of how to operate the work (including specific hardware/software requirements). Artists may request to give demonstrations of their software in the Second Iteration demo-lab but their is no formal exhibition at Second Iteration. For net-works please ensure that the URL you specify is on-line. Net-work submissions may also be submitted on CD-ROM or DVD-ROM. |

GENERATIVE
AUDIO WORKS
The documentation, music or music-generation software of accepted submissions will be published on the conference CD-ROM and/or audio CD. Artists may also request to give demonstrations of generative audio software in the Second Iteration demo-lab but their is no formal audio concert at Second Iteration. Supporting textual material must be submitted for these forms of work. Include a brief written summary describing the work and its relevance to the conference and an artist's biography of not more than 500 words. Works that use generative processes and/or address the themes of the conference will be considered. Audio or sound-based works may be submitted on audio-CD or CD-ROM (AIFF or SDII format files). |

ANIMATION
/ VIDEO / FILM WORKS
The documentation and video provided will be published on the conference CD-ROM and/or video documentation provided it is submitted in digital format. Artists may also request to give demonstrations of generative video software in the Second Iteration demo-lab but their is no formal screening at Second Iteration. Supporting textual material must be submitted for these forms of work. Include a brief written summary describing the work and its relevance to the conference as well as an artist's biography of not more than 500 words. Works that use generative processes and/or address the themes of the conference will be considered. Preview copies of moving image works may be submitted on VHS (PAL, NTSC), Hi8, Video8, DV, BETACAM-SP (PAL only), DVD, CD-ROM (Quicktime, Director or Flash format). Final versions of works will be required in digital format (DV, Quicktime, Flash, Director) for inclusion on the CD-ROM and/or video documentation. |

DEMO-LAB Computers will be available for participants to informally demo software and discuss the ideas behind their work during the conference. Space will also be available for attendees to bring along their own laptops and set them up for demonstrations. Visitors please note the Australian mains power supply information on the travel page. It is highly recommended that attendees wishing to utilize the demo-lab bring a CD-ROM or Zip Disk with all system extensions and libraries required for their demonstration software to run. Please assume nothing about the operating system or software environment other than what is listed below. |
