Wang Tiles

Wang Tiles (Wang dominoes) , first proposed by Hao Wang in 1961, are equal-size squares with one colour on each edge. [1] A valid tiling requires all shared edges between tiles to have matching colours and the squares cannot be rotated. Powered by the colour-coded edges, tiling algorithms using Wang Tiles can construct large textures and 3D scenes, such as ocean, daisy field etc., without the pattern being repeated. Moreover, according to the coloured-edge nature of Wang Tiles, border problems of tiling can be conquered easily.
