Gopal Sama will be looking at cyclisation reactions pertinent to peptide chemistry using synthesis and computational methods together with Patrick Perlmutter.

Chun has been awarded the degree of Doctor of Philosophy for his thesis titled "Polythiophene and dye blends for the photo-electrocatalytic production of hydrogen". Congratulations to Chun, whom will continue his work as a post-doctoral researcher in the group!

Ishanie has been awarded the degree of Doctor of Philosophy for her thesis titled "Novel redox mediators for dye sensitized solar cells". Congratulations to Ishanie and we wish her the best of luck in the future!

Rupali Sharma will be studying the interaction of water with geochemically and catalytically relevant metal oxides. Her project is divided into two parts: the resolution of the solution dynamics involving substituted niobium polyoxometalates, and the investigation of ligand exchange reactions involving polyoxometalate sandwhich compounds. This work is done under joint co-supervision with Zhang Jie. Read more here.

Shravan Acharyan will be studying the transition metal mediated activation of small molecules -- such as H₂, N₂ and CO₂ -- by chemical and electrochemical methods as well as the study of geochemicall relevant materials for carbon sequestration and activation. Chun Ng will be studying dye-functionalised conducting polymer blends together with Bjørn Winther-Jensen, Doug MacFarlane and Andy Ohlin as part of his PhD degree in the department of materials science.
